Pedal Peak District

Monsal ViaductIn December 2009, a project called Pedal Peak District was launched by the Peak District National Park Authority in conjunction with Cycling England.  New links will be developed between the Monsal, High Peak and Tissington Trails to create a circular cycling route between Matlock and Buxton.

The whole project is estimated to cost £3.875m, and £2.25m of funding has already been secured enabling the first phase linking Bakewell and Buxton to proceed.  This will include opening four previously inaccessible rail tunnels which was announced last November.  Phase One is expected to be completed in 2011.
