How to Help
Firstly, make sure you are a member of the Campaign! If not have a look at the 'Membership' page. Come to our meetings, let us know the sort of facilities you would like to see. Use the 'Forum' on this website to put forward ideas.
Our core committee consists of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and Membership Secretary. We also have a Webmaster, Press Secretary, Newsletter Editor and Cycle to Work representative.
Could you print off and display one of our posters at work, school or doctors surgery? See them here.
We already have a network of members who distribute the newsletters, extra volunteers are always welcome.
Current Developments
Separate pages for each major development to keep you up to date.
Developments include:
Wish List
The Campaign's wish is for a network of cycle routes in the town all linked together with clear and logical signing. In addition we would like to see a good quality map produced to promote cycling.
In May 2008 Derbyshire County Council announced that They want to produce a Cycle Strategy for Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire. The first meeting was held on May 6th 2008 with representatives from our Campaign, Sustrans, DCC School Travel Plan Officer and other council officers.
Realistically it can be difficult to put infrastructure in place especially in the more crowded and built up areas but do let us know if you have ideas for long term development of a route or 'quick fixes'. When the Cycle Strategy is complete we hope the network map will be available to all.
You can email the Secretary at secretary@chesterfieldcc.org.uk.
Local Transport Plan
A link to the online pdf download of the Derbyshire LTP is available here, a summary of the local measures proposed will appear here soon.
Campaign Policies
The Campaign supports the 'Stop at Red' campaign. At night or in bad visibility cyclists must use lights (see our lighting poster). Cycling on pavements when not a designated shared or segregated route remains illegal.
