Waterside link to the station etc

 Hi folks,

Does anyone have a clear view on how the waterside cycle track (the transpennine trail section) will link to the station and town?  I looked on the original overview plans, and there was a nice link from the end of the transpennine trail to the station (round the back of where it appears they'll be demolishing the old court house), BUT...

1. It was marked as a pedestrian link

2. There wasn't anything like a cycle priority crossing, toucan etc marked over station road.

There is an alternative of tapton terrace, but what do you all think, and does anyone have up to date info?

Cheers

Simon

Waterside link to the station etc

You're right - I hadn't noticed it before but it does look as though cyclists get dumped back on to Brimington Road.

If you look at page 6 (Movement) of the display boards pdf ...

http://www.chesterfieldcc.org.uk/sites/default/files/file/waterside/ches...

... there is a section of Brimington Road, plus others around the station, highlighted in red which they refer to as The Boulevard.  It sounds as though this will be 'humanised' and traffic calmed so hopefully would be much nicer to cycle on than it is now.

However, it IS disappointing that they don't seem to have created a direct route to the station, and hence onwards into the town centre.

Maybe it's worth contacting them to highlight the issue.  Better to clarify things now than when developers start getting interested in the site.

They've got a website here: www.chesterfieldwaterside.com

The form on the contact page is set to go to andy.dainty@urboregen.com so it might be easier to just send a normal email than fill out those tiny boxes.

Alternatively, you could try using the Urbo contact details here: http://www.urboregen.com/contact.php

Looks like they're based at Dunston Innovation Centre.

Thanks

I'll drop Andy Dainty (what a great name!) a line about this...
