Surveying

THis thread is for updates on OpenStreetMap/OpenCycleMap surveying - reply with your updates...

To start, I'm now half way through surveying Hasland, working up and out of town.  I'll hopefully finish it off next weekend...

Cheers

Simon

Good work with Hasland -

Good work with Hasland - looks like you've managed to record a lot of detail.

I have no plans to survey any specific areas at the moment although I am adding small points of interest as I get the chance.  Most of my mapping was done in the evenings over the summer but it's got too dark for that now.

Inkersall, Middlecroft and Staveley are the next big areas to do.  I may give these a go if I get some free time on a weekend but I'm not sure when that will be.

Inkersall & Staveley

Hi Nicola,

I've nearly finished Hasland now.  I'll move on to Spital Lane & Hady Lane, and then to Inkersall & Staveley, but don't want to  be mapping the same streets as you.  I'll start at the near end (Middlecroft)...

Thanks

Simon

Nice work! Did you know that

Nice work!

Did you know that you can also apply the 'amenity' tag to an area, not just a node.  This means that you could define the whole area of Hasland Hall School's playing fields.

Just keep me informed about where you're mapping - I don't envisage doing that much over winter because the summer evenings were my best opportunity and now it's too dark.  I'll let you know if I get chance to do any more.

Back cut to look at.

One I used to use before work shifted to Halfway:-

From the Fan Road industrial estates, up Cemetary Lane, across either the Cemetary or King Georges Park (please be friendly to the old folks, there's never been a complaint yet!) onto Middlecroft Road, across St Johns Road, coming out on the A619 as close as possible to Troughbrook, then right, across the bottom of Hollingwood to the towpath at Hollingwood Lock. This might be a useful alternative when the Hollingwood-Staveley section of the towpath is closed for the roadworks.
