Chesterfield Railway Station is managed by East Midland Trains. The Campaign has asked for bike lockers at the station for several years. The Campaign had a meeting with East Midland Trains early in 2008, whilst not ruling out some form of secure parking EMT have said that they will add another 10 'Sheffield' stands to the cycle parking area on platform 1. This area is covered by CCTV.
In June 2008 the Campaign received details of a planning application to extend the car park towards the builders merchant at the southern end of the station site.
A longer term plan is the building of a road from the station to Hollis Lane to allow through traffic to Hady Hill. The Campaign would expect a bike route along this alignment as well.
The Campaign also supports better bus links with the station and we look forward to an enhanced route to and from the Waterside development.
In late August 2008 work started to extend the car park. As part of the eventual approval EMT will erect seven more bike stands around the station.
May 2009 - EMT have erected two more Sheffield stands on platform 1 and two more next to the taxi rank.
