Chesterfield Cycle Campaign promotes cycle use in Chesterfield for both leisure and utility journeys.  By campaigning for a comprehensive network, we aim to improve conditions for cyclists so that cycling becomes a safer and more attractive option than car travel for local journeys.

Successful Forum

We hosted the 2016 meeting of the East Midland Cycle Forum on October 15th. A morning of speakers including presentations about cycling in Leicester, Dronfield progress, Bennerley Viaduct, White Peak loop progress, Sustrans and news from other campaigns we enjoyed a buffet lunch.

After lunch we toured the north-south cycle route through Chesterfield taking in the new station link.

East Midland Cycle Forum

Our Campaign is hosting the 2016 meeting of the East Midland Cycle Forum on Saturday October 15th starting at 10.30am. The venue is the Hadfield Suite at the Stonegravels Parish Centre. The suite is actually in the church (not the parish centre) which is down the drive alongside the parish centre. If you are on a bike or foot it can be accessed from the Stonegravels Way at the bottom of the churchyard.

Many delegates will arrive by train so members of the Campaign will lead a ride from the railway station to the venue leaving at about 10.15am.

A number of speakers in the morning will be followed by lunch provided by the Campaign (donations welcome) and then a ride around local cycle infrastructure finishing back at the railway station by 4.00pm.

It is a great opportunity to learn about other Campaign groups. Please let us know if you are coming (for catering numbers) by booking a free ticket on the 'Eventbrite' website, search for East Midland Cycle Forum.

Don't forget we have our usual monthly Campaign meeting on Tuesday October 11th, 7.30pm at Chesterfield Community Centre.

Cycle in Style

Great social ride today with around 35 taking part. Thanks to Nonna's for drinks and cake at the start and Vintage Tea Rooms for drinks and the prize at the finish.

Station Link Opening

The Campaign had two very successful morning stalls at the railway station on Wednesday and Thursday. Much interest and lots of maps and information given out. We had to arrange an overnight reprint of our flyer with the route graphic.

The official opening was also a great success despite the damp conditions. Over 50 children and adults cycled in from four schools, users of the Wheels for All disability trikes, lots of Campaign members  and Sustrans, DCC officers and representatives from East Midland Trains watched Cllr John Owen cut the ribbon.

Our September meeting is on Tuesday 13th. We will be discussing the station link opening events and the EMCF meeting being held in Chesterfield on October 15th. Hope to see you there!
